Volleyball Game Preview: St. Cloud Tech Tigers vs. Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres

St. Cloud Tech hasn't had much luck against Sartell-St. Stephen recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sabres at 11:30 a.m. St. Cloud Tech will be strutting in after a victory while Sartell-St. Stephen will be coming in after a defeat.

St. Cloud Tech will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Bemidji, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Tigers put the hurt on the Lumberjacks with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Sartell-St. Stephen didn't have quite enough to beat Elk River on Thursday and fell 3-2. While the Sabres didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Elks 25-15 in the first set.

Sartell-St. Stephen actually scored more points across those five sets (110-104), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 15-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 16-14.

St. Cloud Tech will have to keep a close watch on Violet Meyer and Kate Thompson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Sartell-St. Stephen's prior game. Meyer had ten digs and five aces, while Thompson had 42 assists and 11 digs. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

St. Cloud Tech has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Sartell-St. Stephen, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.

St. Cloud Tech came up short against Sartell-St. Stephen when the teams last played back in August of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
