Baseball Game Preview: New Roads Jaguars vs. Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica Seawolves

The New Roads Jaguars will square off against the Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica Seawolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when New Roads took on Jordan on Tuesday. New Roads skirted past Jordan 5-3.

Santiago Jimenez and Matthew Linares were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Jimenez didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, Linares struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, Jimenez didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. At the plate, Jimenez scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Linares scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jimenez also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Sebastian Berumen was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Shel Tucker also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica beat Shalhevet 12-7 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Seawolves.

Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for New Roads, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

New Roads beat Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica 5-1 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does New Roads have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
