Basketball Recap: Jabari Henry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Atlantic over Pembroke Pines Charter

Atlantic and Pembroke Pines Charter squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Atlantic had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 72-54 to the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Jaguars are ranked 16th).

Atlantic's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jabari Henry, who went 10-for-13 en route to 22 points. What's more, Henry also posted a 77% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Richard, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Pembroke Pines Charter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maximo Ortega out in front who posted 21 points. Robert Guishard was another key player, putting up 18 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Atlantic and nudges their season record down to 14-11. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Atlantic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they will take on Belen Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Belen Jesuit will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Pembroke Pines Charter surely won't give up without a fight.
