Baseball Game Preview: Oakwood Comets vs. Iroquois West Raiders

Oakwood is a perfect 4-0 against Iroquois West since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Comets will host the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Neither Oakwood nor Iroquois West posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Last Tuesday, Oakwood didn't have quite enough to beat Centennial and fell 3-2. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chase Harrison was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Xander Wilson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Iroquois West lost 9-2 to Herscher on Thursday. The Raiders have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Iroquois West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Alvarez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Iroquois West's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Oakwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Everything went Oakwood's way against Iroquois West in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Oakwood made off with a 12-1 win. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
