Baseball Game Preview: Pioneer Patriots vs. Patterson Tigers

Pioneer has won three straight games at home, while Patterson has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Patriots will host the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Pioneer sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over Rio Americano.

Meanwhile, Patterson got the win against Mountain House on Thursday by a conclusive 7-1. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Noah Cozart was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Max Medina was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Jimmy Chagoya was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Pioneer has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Patterson, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.

Pioneer skirted past Patterson 3-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
