The Hercules Titans will take on the El Cerrito Gauchos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Wednesday, Hercules came up short against Salesian College Preparatory and fell 3-1. The Titans have struggled against the Pride recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Hercules started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-10, 25-10, 25-13.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for El Cerrito, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past Vallejo 3-0 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Gauchos in their matchups with the Redhawks: they've now won eight in a row.
El Cerrito walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 25-9.
Hercules better focus on containing Angelina Franklin and Charlie Schlanger as the pair were huge in El Cerrito's win. Franklin had four aces and three digs, while Schlanger had five digs and five aces. That's the most aces Schlanger has posted over her last five contests. Zhane Giles was another key player, getting four assists and three aces.
El Cerrito was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 30 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in seven consecutive matchups.
El Cerrito's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Hercules, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Hercules might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from El Cerrito in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Titans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other volleyball content.
