Basketball Game Preview: Parkersburg Big Reds vs. Hurricane Redskins

Parkersburg is 8-2 against Hurricane since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Parkersburg Big Reds will square off against the Hurricane Redskins at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Parkersburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past Huntington to the tune of 76-37. The Big Reds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Parkersburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kennedy Porter led the charge by dropping a double-double with 18 points and 17 boards. Porter has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audriana Medina, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 17 points and four steals.

Parkersburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Hurricane posted their biggest victory since January 23rd on Friday. They blew past Capital 77-49. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Hurricane's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Parkersburg, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 16-7.

Parkersburg ended up a good deal behind Hurricane in their previous matchup last Saturday, losing 67-52. Can Parkersburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
