Football Game Preview: Greenfield Wildcats vs. Schuyler County Rams

The Greenfield Wildcats will challenge the Schuyler County Rams at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Greenfield faced off against Lockwood last Friday. The Wildcats were outmatched by the Tigers and fell 87-32. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite their loss, Greenfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Andrew Mays, who picked up 131 receiving yards and two scores, was perhaps the best of all. Mays showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Morrison, who threw for 183 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Schuyler County, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They strolled past Keytesville with points to spare last Friday, taking the game 40-24. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rams' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Greenfield better keep an eye on Brody Weaver. He was instrumental in Schuyler County's win, rushing for 58 yards and three TDs, while also picking up 64 receiving yards and one score. That's the most rushing touchdowns Weaver has posted since back in September of 2024. Another signal caller making a difference was Gage Pauley, who threw for 153 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes.

Schuyler County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Greenfield, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-3.
