Baseball Recap: Arroyo Grande Finds Home Field Redemption Against Righetti

There's no place like home for Arroyo Grande, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Righetti Warriors 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since May 10, 2024.

Lucas Durham tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Arroyo Grande is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Judah Hill and Linkin Whitney did most of the damage at the plate: Hill scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Whitney went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. What's more, Hill posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jackson Ralph, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Arroyo Grande's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-6. As for Righetti, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Arroyo Grande is set to face off against their familiar foe Mission College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Righetti will challenge rival Lompoc at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Righetti 3.9, Lompoc 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
