Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Converse). Everything went their way against the Southwood Cowboys on Friday as the Converse Wildcats made off with  a  17-1 win. The  victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won five in a row.
 Branton Snelling was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he  struck out seven batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. The dominant performance gave  him a new career-low in  hits. He was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in all three of his plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Riley Norman was a standout: he scored two  runs while going 1-for-2. What's more,  he posted three  RBI, the most he's  had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Mavrick Mitchell, who  scored three  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in two of his three plate appearances.
 Converse  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwood struck out seven times.
The  win was their first  at home , bumping their record up to 4-6. As for Southwood,  they are  on  an  18-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
 Coming up, Converse will square off against North Webster at 6:00  p.m.  on Monday. As for Southwood, they will head out on the road to  challenge  Doyline  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
