Football Game Preview: Simmons Blue Devils vs. Calhoun City Wildcats + How To Watch

The Simmons Blue Devils will face off against the Calhoun City Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Simmons sitting on 12 straight victories and Calhoun City on nine.

Simmons is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They snuck past Taylorsville with a 12-8 win. Those 12 points were actually the fewest the Blue Devils have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

DJ Gatson produced another solid performance rushing for 96 yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Calhoun City duked it out with Biggersville on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Lions 36-14. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by 22 points or more this season.

Calhoun City's win came from a few key players Simmons will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Harland Pittman, who threw for 183 yards and three TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes. Those 183 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Jaylon Jackson also helped with two scores in total.

Calhoun City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Trell Dorrough and Brennan Lawrence. Deshun Jones was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Simmons' record now sits at 12-0. As for Calhoun City, their record is now 12-1.

Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Simmons has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 257.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Calhoun City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 191.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
