Baseball Recap: West Carteret Has No Trouble Against Hunt

West Carteret lost to Hunt back in April of 2015, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 7-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Landon Mann made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for West Carteret: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most two hits, but 4-5 otherwise. Mann was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

West Carteret kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunt only managed four hits.

West Carteret's record is now 9-7. As for Hunt, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-8.

Looking ahead, West Carteret will be taking part in a tournament against Martin County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Gators have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Hunt, they will head out on the road to face off against Croatan at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
