Football Game Preview: Hilltop Lancers vs. Olympian Eagles + How To Watch

The Hilltop Lancers will square off against the Olympian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hilltop comes in on four and Olympian on three.

If Hilltop beats Olympian with 28 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Lancers came out on top against Montgomery by a score of 28-20 on Friday.

Hilltop's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leo Mendoza led the charge by rushing for 156 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Mendoza has posted since back in August. Another pass catcher making a difference was Julian Moran, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hilltop was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Hilltop didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Abraham Matuz, Moran, and Tre Nichols III picked up one apiece.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Olympian and Bonita Vista meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Barons 38-7. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 26 points or more this season.

Hilltop better keep an eye on Jayden Fuentes. He was instrumental in Olympian's win, throwing for 286 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 71 yards and one score. Jayce Reimer was another key player, rushing for 53 yards and one TD.

Hilltop's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Olympian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Things could have been worse for Hilltop, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-13 loss to Olympian when the teams last played back in October of 2024.
