Basketball Recap: Troy Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northeast Lauderdale over Leake Central

Northeast Lauderdale lost against Leake Central two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Northeast Lauderdale Trojans took a 69-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Leake Central Gators. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Gators are ranked 15th).

Northeast Lauderdale's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Troy Brown, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Brown has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bj Portis, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 15 points.

Northeast Lauderdale's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Leake Central, they pushed their record up to 20-7 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home.
