Football Recap: Hickory Beats Grove City for Their Second Straight Win

Hickory won the last time they faced Grove City and Kelvin Morrison did his part to make sure it happened again. The Hornets walked away with a 21-14 victory over the Eagles on Thursday thanks in part to Morrison, who rushed for 149 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Morrison is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 115 every time he's taken the field this season.

Grove City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gavin Purdy, who rushed for 94 yards and two scores, and Jonah Stucchio, who rushed for 134 yards. Stucchio didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended one pass.

The win made it two in a row for Hickory and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.5 points over those games. As for Grove City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Meanwhile, Grove City is set to square off against their familiar foe Conneaut Area at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Purdy and Aidan Ford.
