Baseball Recap: Elyria Takes a Loss

Elyria had lost eight straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it nine. They lost 10-0 to the Berea-Midpark Titans. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Berea-Midpark, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Berea-Midpark's part, not much got past Danny Bowser, who gave up just a hit to keep Elyria off the board. Bowser also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Titans are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Berea-Midpark let Lionel Skernivitz and Remy Jones run wild. Skernivitz went 1-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base, while Jones went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three runs gave Skernivitz a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Samarin, who earned two RBI and one run.

While Elyria had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
