Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Stone's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Stone made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Pearl River Central, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Stone Tomcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pearl River Central Blue Devils a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. With that victory, the Tomcats brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Emalynn Gibson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Raeghan Williams, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Kahlen Vaughn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Stone kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Stone is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.
