Volleyball Recap: Spring Valley Takes a Loss

Spring Valley lost against Del Sol back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 3-2.

Spring Valley started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 22-25, 25-10, 25-13, 15-13.

Dylan Agustin paced Spring Valley's offense, picking up 12 kills. Agustin got some help from Zaydeus Palado and his 25 assists. Finally, Cooper Turner kept Spring Valley's defense grounded, leading the team with seven blocks.

Xander Besser was the offensive standout of the match as he had 11 digs and two aces. What's more, he posted two assists, the most he's had over his last six contests.

Spring Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Del Sol, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Spring Valley will challenge Clark at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Del Sol, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
