Basketball Recap: Javonte Simpson-Lee's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Poinciana over Harmony

Poinciana lost against Harmony last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Poinciana Eagles took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harmony Longhorns. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Javonte Simpson-Lee, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. Simpson-Lee is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Savion Viser, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Poinciana moved to 14-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Harmony, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Poinciana and Harmony should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Poinciana (ranked 150th) will meet Haines City (ranked 314th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Harmony will take on Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 502 places (98 vs. 600).
