Softball Recap: Thomas Heyward Academy Takes a Loss

Thomas Heyward Academy extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-6 in the process. They lost 16-1 to the Carolina Academy Bobcats. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 5-4 to the Bobcats when the teams met back in May of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Carolina Academy, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

For Carolina Academy's part, Raeley Frye made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Frye has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carlie Anne Smith, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Paisley McCutcheon, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Thomas Heyward Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carolina Academy, they have already played their next game, a 13-1 win against Lee Academy on the 9th.
