Softball Game Preview: Hillcrest Rams vs. Easley Green Wave

The Hillcrest Rams will square off against the Easley Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillcrest will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Hillcrest turned things around against J.L. Mann on Friday. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Rams this season.

Olivia Baker made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Maria Sialmas was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Tatum Lane was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Hillcrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Easley had just enough and edged out Mauldin 2-1 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Green Wave have won by just one run.

Like Hillcrest, Easley also got a great game from a two-way player: Jalyn McGee. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Furthermore, McGee didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Easley and bumps their season record up to 3-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Hillcrest, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Hillcrest skirted past Easley 3-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. Will Hillcrest repeat their success, or does Easley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
