Softball Game Preview: South Oldham Dragons vs. Butler Bears

The South Oldham Dragons will take on the Butler Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Oldham is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

South Oldham took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Woodford County with a sharp 13-3 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Dragons needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

South Oldham got a great performance from Harper Dickerson as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grace Turner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Henry, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

South Oldham hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Butler was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They came up short against DuPont Manual, falling 11-1.

Butler's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for South Oldham, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
