Lehi faced Westlake in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Pioneers came out on top against the Thunder by a score of 5-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Pioneers, who have now won six matches in a row.

Abbi Harroun spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lehi saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hadlie Hansen, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Hansen a new career-high.

Lehi pushed their record up to 18-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Westlake, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-7.

Looking ahead, Lehi will take on American Fork at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavemen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.24 runs per game on average), something the Pioneers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Westlake, they will square off against Skyridge at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
