Basketball Recap: Wheat Ridge Takes a Loss

Wheat Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Elizabeth Cardinals, falling 52-25.

Elizabeth's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but London Machado led the charge by putting up 14 points along with six steals and five assists. That's the most steals Machado has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Larissa Wesbrook, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds.

Wheat Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Elizabeth, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.

Wheat Ridge has already played their next contest, a 22-21 defeat against Thornton on the 18th. As for Elizabeth, they will challenge Falcon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
