League recap: Cedar Grove wins, gets boost in standings

AAA Region 6 recap Oct. 9, 2012

Cedar Grove was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in AAA Region 6. The Saints defeated Towers 66-8 earlier in the week.

McNair moved up to 309 from 338 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mustangs were able to make the jump by beating the Mustangs 34-0.

Thanks to the talents of Spencer McManes and Milton Shelton Blessed Trinity has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. McManes leads the league in passing with 509 yards, while Shelton has rushed for 431 yards this season. McNair's Mike Minter leads the league in receiving yards with 302 on eight catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Titans take on Decatur. As it stands, Blessed Trinity is in second, while the Bulldogs are in sixth.

Cedar Grove extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 6 this week by beating the Titans, 66-8. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Saints.
