Basketball Recap: Hiawatha Red Hawks vs. Troy Trojans
Hiawatha unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Troy Trojans by a score of 59-57 on Friday. The Red Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Troy was led to victory by Henry Geiger and Logan Blevins. Geiger went 7 of 9 en route to 19 points and six rebounds, while Blevins posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave Geiger a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gannon Bowe, who had six points.
Hiawatha wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-63 loss against Horton on the 10th. As for Troy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 44-24 victory against Jackson Heights on the 10th.
