Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Riverside's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Riverside never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Liberty Tech Magnet Crusaders with a sharp 20-0 victory. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Cole Yarbro looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Riverside: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Anderson Thompson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Newberry, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Riverside is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty Tech Magnet, their loss was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.
