Baseball Recap: Lafayette Jefferson's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Lafayette Jefferson came out on top against McCutcheon on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Bronchos were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Mavericks. Considering the Bronchos have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Nate Hilsabeck tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has become a key player for Lafayette Jefferson: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Lafayette Jefferson let Ethan Lane and Erasmo Santiallana run wild. Lane went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Santiallana went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Lane a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leyton Corbin, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lafayette Jefferson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCutcheon only posted a batting average of .176.

Lafayette Jefferson moved to 12-9 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for McCutcheon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette Jefferson will head out to face off against Anderson at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for McCutcheon, they will venture away from home to square off against Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Greyhounds will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Mavericks surely won't give up without a fight.
