Basketball Recap: Morning Star Academy Comes Up Short

Morning Star Academy lost against Faith Christian last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Morning Star Academy Mustangs took a blow against the Faith Christian Falcons, falling 63-25. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 691st in Iowa, while the Falcons are ranked 313th in Illinois).

Morning Star Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Brady, who posted ten points. Brady continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryson Minnich, who earned six points.

Brady Bivins was the offensive standout of the matchup as he went 6-for-9 en route to 13 points and five steals. Those five steals gave him a new career-high. Kevin Webb was another key player, going 5-for-10 to rack up 10 points and three blocks.

Morning Star Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Faith Christian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 24-2.

Morning Star Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-41 loss against Pathway Christian on the 8th. As for Faith Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-67 defeat against Quad Cities Christian on the 8th.
