Softball Recap: Pleasanton Takes a Loss

Pleasanton fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Uvalde on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) by a score of 6-4. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Scarlet Travis spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Thalia Martinez and Mariah Villarreal stepped up to the plate in a big way. Martinez scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Villarreal scored two runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Sayla Garris, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Pleasanton is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-11-1. As for Uvalde, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Pleasanton is set to face off against their familiar foe Carrizo Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Uvalde will take on rival Devine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
