Softball Game Preview: Odem Owls vs. Mathis Pirates

Odem is 1-9 against Mathis since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Owls will host the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Odem came up short against Aransas Pass on Thursday, falling 13-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Owls have suffered against the Panthers since March 21, 2023.

Odem saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Huerta, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Alyssa Spurlock, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four matchups, Mathis finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They lost 16-2 to West Oso. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pirates have suffered since February 26th.

Odem's loss dropped their record down to 10-18. As for Mathis, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.
