Softball Recap: Elyria's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Elyria can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Sandusky Blue Streaks 11-9. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Pioneers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Grace Blazina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Morgan Palos was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelyn Green, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elyria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Elyria's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Sandusky, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.

Looking ahead, Elyria will take on Berea-Midpark in a tournament on Monday. As for Sandusky, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Margaretta at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
