Softball Recap: Biggsville West Central Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Biggsville West Central's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's eighth consecutive shutout on Thursday. They never let the Bureau Valley Storm get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Heat have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Miley Stimpson's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Becca Hinshaw and Lauren Winters did most of the damage at the plate: Hinshaw went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Winters went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Hinshaw has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lily Higgins, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Biggsville West Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive matches.

Biggsville West Central's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bureau Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Biggsville West Central will head out to square off against ROWVA/Williamsfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bureau Valley, they will venture away from home to challenge Morrison at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their five-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
