Baseball Recap: Deming's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Deming dropped their record down to 18-8 on Friday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Santa Teresa Desert Warriors, falling 11-4. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Desert Warriors since on Friday.

Deming saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Allison, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

As for Santa Teresa, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by seven runs or more this season.

On Santa Teresa's side, Marcos Rivera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Santa Teresa got a massive performance out of Gavin Garcia, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Garcia has posted since back in April. Jackson Simpson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Deming and Santa Teresa are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against Bloomfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deming's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Santa Teresa, they will face off against Grants at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Desert Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
