The Schurr Spartans will challenge the Segerstrom Jaguars at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Schurr has four straight victories, Segerstrom has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Schurr barely beat Monrovia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Schurr's way against Monrovia on Tuesday as Schurr made off with a 23-4 win. That 19 run margin sets a new team best for the Spartans this season.
Sophia De Santiago was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. De Santiago was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Schurr let Mia Gonzales and Samantha Maldonado run wild. Gonzales fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Maldonado went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Gonzales is crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Isabella Perea was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Schurr hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Segerstrom fell victim to Tesoro and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 8-0.
Segerstrom saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Fraser, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Schurr's record is now 4-0. As for Segerstrom, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Segerstrom's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Schurr has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12 hits per game. It's a different story for Segerstrom, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Schurr's sizable advantage in that area, Segerstrom will need to find a way to close that gap.
