Basketball Game Preview: Westover Christian Academy Bulldogs vs. Altavista Colonels

The Westover Christian Academy Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Altavista Colonels at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Altavista took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Westover Christian Academy, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Westover Christian Academy didn't have too much trouble with Timberlake Christian as they won 39-25. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Westover Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emily Evans out in front who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Evans is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Chloe Smith was another key player, putting up seven points and 11 boards.

Westover Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Altavista played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Chatham, falling 66-38. The Colonels haven't had much luck with the Cavaliers recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Westover Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.5 points per game. As for Altavista, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Things could have been worse for Westover Christian Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-32 loss to Altavista in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Westover Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
