Westerly had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.9 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They came out on top against the East Hampton Bellringers by a score of 44-35. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked ninth in Rhode Island, while the Bellringers are ranked 61st in Connecticut), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westerly was led to victory by Ella Reyes and Kate Rafferty. Reyes went 8 of 19 on her way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and four steals, while Rafferty posted nine points along with seven assists and six steals. The dominant performance gave Reyes a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jenna Parker, who put up four points.

Westerly has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for East Hampton, they dropped their record down to 6-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westerly will host Waterford at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for East Hampton, they will welcome Haddam-Killingworth at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
