Softball Game Preview: Las Plumas Thunderbirds vs. Antelope Titans

The Las Plumas Thunderbirds will face off against the Antelope Titans at 9:15 a.m. on Monday. Las Plumas is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 17 games.

Las Plumas is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Oroville a 26-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Thunderbirds have won 13 matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Las Plumas got a massive performance out of Aeries Brewton, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Brewton a new career-high. Adalyna Medrano was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Las Plumas hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Antelope was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They came up short against McClatchy, falling 7-1. The match marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Antelope also got a good showing from Layla Kelly, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

Las Plumas' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.7 runs over those games. As for Antelope, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Las Plumas has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like Antelope struggles in that department as they've averaged .494. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
