Baseball Recap: Carlin Railroaders vs. Wells Leopards
Carlin extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 32 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wells Leopards. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Leopards this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-8 on Tuesday.
Carlin got a good showing from Landon Huntley, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs Huntley has allowed since back in April of 2024.
As for Wells, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games.
On Wells' side, Gage Uhlig looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Uhlig has posted since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Landon Hall was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Raleigh Groves was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Carlin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 25-0 defeat against Smith Valley on the 18th. As for Wells, they have also already played their next game, a 14-4 win against Coleville on the 19th.
