Basketball Recap: Ascend Leadership Comes Up Short

Ascend Leadership played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Clover Garden School Grizzlies and fell 68-37. The Aviators haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Brayden DeAlto continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Clover Garden School, going 10 for 16 on his way to 24 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. DeAlto is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Castaneo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Ascend Leadership's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Clover Garden School, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ascend Leadership will take on American Leadership Academy-Johnston in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clover Garden School and Southern Wake Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
