Otis extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 9-4. They put the hurt on the Kiowa Indians with a sharp 12-1 victory. Considering the Bulldogs have won seven games by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Gavin Price and Austin Hornung made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Price struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Hornung tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Price went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one stolen base, while Hornung earned one run and two stolen bases. That's the most RBI Price has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Otis let Mitchell Stivers and Emiliano Varela run wild. Stivers went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Varela got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Otis is 8-2 when Stivers posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Gracen Bechtle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
As for Kiowa, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Kiowa's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adler Kreig, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Coming up, Otis will square off against Merino at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Kiowa, they will challenge Elbert at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
