Softball Game Preview: Palatine Pirates vs. Conant Cougars

The Palatine Pirates will head out to face off against the Conant Cougars at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Palatine managed to slip by Fremd the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pirates lost 7-0 to the Vikings on Wednesday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Pirates were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Conant didn't have quite enough to beat Prospect on Thursday and fell 5-4.

Sophia Gomez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Palatine now has a losing record of 6-7-1. As for Conant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Palatine might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Conant when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
