Baseball Recap: Plainedge Wins Going Away Against Malverne

Plainedge got themselves on the board against Malverne on Thursday, but Malverne never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Mules. Fans of the Red Devils have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Nick Williams tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Bobby Wescott was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Wescott is crushing it when it comes to RBI: he's brought in at least three every time he's taken the field this season. Mike Calapai was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Plainedge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .606. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .438 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Plainedge's record is now 3-0. As for Malverne, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
