With a playoff win on the line, Beecher rose to the challenge on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Brimfield Indians 4-3. The victory was nothing new for the Bobcats as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Ava Lorenzatti made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Lorenzatti wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Liliana Irwin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Beecher's win bumped their record up to 35-2. As for Brimfield, they moved to 33-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Coming up, Beecher will challenge Auburn at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bobcats 1.8, the Trojans 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Brimfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
