            Softball Recap: Loretto Mustangs vs. Lewis County Panthers        
        
		
        
        
            The scorekeeper got an easy start  on Monday as neither Loretto nor Lewis County made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Mustangs were the clear victors by  an  11-3 margin over the Panthers. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive  victory against them.

 Mallory Corbin made a splash no matter where she played. She  struck out nine batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 In other batting news, Loretto let  Cambrea Hanson and  Aubrey Ezell run wild. Hanson  went 2-for-4 with two  runs, one  double,  and one  RBI, while  Ezell  went 1-for-4 with three  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. Ezell is  on a roll when it comes to  RBI, as she's  now  brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's  played dating back to last season.  Breleigh Winters was another key player,  getting on base  in two of her four plate appearances with two  runs.
Loretto's  win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Lewis County, they moved to 14-5 with that  defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
 Lewis County has  already played their next  game (against Perry County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Loretto will be paying especially close attention to the Panthers'  contest: after the Panthers face off against the Vikings, they'll take on Loretto again  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
