Frankfort and Berkeley Springs are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Falcons will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. Frankfort will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
On Tuesday, Frankfort made easy work of Fort Hill and carried off a 10-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Rylee Mangold was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Claire Westfall and Adison Pritts did most of the damage at the plate: Westfall went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Pritts went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Tayler Likens was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Berkeley Springs fell victim to Northern Garrett and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Huskies, falling 11-0. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Frankfort's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Berkeley Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
Berkeley Springs' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Frankfort has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Berkeley Springs, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Frankfort's sizable advantage in that area, the Indians will need to find a way to close that gap.
Frankfort might still be hurting after the 12-4 loss they got from Berkeley Springs in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
