Football Recap: Malcolm Starts off Right with Win over North Bend Central

Malcolm had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the North Bend Central Tigers 49-8 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Clippers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Tigers are ranked 100th).

Gavin Little had an outrageously good game as he threw for 209 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushed for 65 yards and one TD on only five carries. Those 209 passing yards gave him a new career-high.

Malcolm's defense stepped up as well, laying out Drew Sterup. three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Little, Gerrit Dewaard, and Justin Wisnieski, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Looking ahead, Malcolm will face off against Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for North Bend Central, they will take on Oakland-Craig on Friday.
