Basketball Recap: Sam Quiring's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Heartland over Exeter-Milligan/Friend

Heartland lost against Exeter-Milligan/Friend back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The matchup between the Heartland Huskies and the Exeter-Milligan/Friend Bobcats didn't end well, with the Heartland Huskies falling 51-37. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Bobcats are ranked 32nd).

Heartland lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sam Quiring, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 13 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Maddox Regier, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points.

Exeter-Milligan/Friend was led to victory by Mason Vossler and Zach Vossler. Mason posted six points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Zach dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. Zach is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Jacob Klooz was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Heartland has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, their record is now 15-2.

Heartland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-49 loss against Milford on the 3rd. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-51 victory against Pawnee City on the 31st.
