Recap: Central Rockets vs. Dade Christian Crusaders
The Central Rockets posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Dade Christian 65-63. Given Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Dade Christian is ranked 416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jodan Wright, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Suarez, who scored 18 points.
Despite the loss, Dade Christian still got an impressive performance from Kenvenson Malivert, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Malivert has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 14 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brandon Cooper, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Dade Christian, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Miami Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Miami Springs has struggled recently with 12 defeats in a row, while Central will arrive with three straight wins. As for Dade Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
