Baseball Recap: Swansboro Triumphs

Swansboro won the last time they faced White Oak and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pirates came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 10-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Josh Scott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Swansboro is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Scott was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Patrick Hollifield was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Landen Jenkins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory got Swansboro back to even at 4-4. As for White Oak, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Swansboro didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against West Carteret on the 27th. As for White Oak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-2 loss against Jacksonville on the 26th.
